Neue (@whatsneue) is embarking on a completely new and exciting form of content called “What’s Neue from 9 to 5”.

In this segment, 9 questions would be about people’s opinion on general and everyday things, while the last 5 questions would be fairly chill and more tongue in cheek.

Check out Amal Sanli Saini (@mals_sanli_saini), the founder of The Banana Story BN (@thebananastory.bn) and Frame D Fun Events (@framedfunevents).

The Tough 9’ers:

1. Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

You should always put yourself first!

You should never take things for granted!

You have to keep trying until you succeed!

Do think wisely before doing something that might harm your future.

2. What’s the best life hack that never fails?

Have you ever realised how easy it is for bananas to darken (‘menghitam’, in Malay) after you peel them?

To prevent this all you have to do is to soak the banana in lemon water for 2 seconds.

Then let it dry. Trust me! You’ll see the difference! The bananas will last longer! The best part is that the taste of the bananas won’t be ruined at all! ☺️

3. Describe a favourite memory of yours.

Being a mother to my girl, Adrianna! ❤️Another one would be building the business, The Banana Story BN (@thebananastory.bn).

4. What separates true friends from acquaintances?

In my opinion, true friends are people who will stick with you through your ups and downs.

They will not let you be alone, especially during a particularly difficult day.

True friends are someone who will love and care for you like you are family.

Someone who I consider a true friend is my best friend, Ian Ariffin. He was there for me during my lowest point in my life. He’s someone who never gets tired of helping me. He has stuck by me through thick and thin no matter how bad things get. He’ll stand up for me whenever people say untrue things about me and my life.

Acquaintances, on the other hand, are people who just so happen to be there!

5. How do you handle judgmental people?

I used to worry about about what other people thought of me.

But I’ve come to realise that all this is a waste of time.

Nowadays, I just smile and let people think whatever they want about me.

I’m pretty sure that one day they’ll realise that they are just wasting their time talking about me.

At the end of the day, I just gotta be me! ?

6. Do you believe everything happens for a reason?

Yes! I do believe that.

We tend to blame fate whenever there isn’t anyone to blame for things that happen in our lives.

From time to time, we have to take a step back and do some reflection.

When you take a break from everything, you will come to realise the “FAULT” in us.

And how do we overcome such faults?

First, we have to identify what the fault is. And from there, it will be easy to work on fixing it.

It also help when one is able to accept things that happen in life with an open heart.

As some would say … It’s all about ‘redha’ (acceptance, in English). In other words, come what may!

7. Tell me about someone you truly admire.

My inspiration would have to be my dad. He passed away when i was 6 years old. I still believe to this day that he did his very best to be the best dad to me!

Another person who I truly admire is Nadya Adnan. She is someone who speaks her mind! She’ll make sure that you do what it is that you have to do. She was the first person I opened up to about my life.  Thanks to her, I was able to change the way I approach life!

8. What did you aspire to be when you were 10 years old? What would 10 year old you say now?

I aspire to be an INDEPENDENT woman who doesn’t need to rely on others to make it in life. I would like to think that my 10-year-old self would be proud of the person that I’ve become.

9. What story on the Neue website did you enjoy reading?

I enjoyed reading about the travels of Nadia Othman (Nadd) in the #Neue9to5 article, “9 to 5: What’s Neue with Nadd”.

The Easy 5’ers:

1. What was your first mobile phone? And what mobile would you not mind upgrading to next?

My first mobile was the Nokia 3210! ?

I wouldn’t mind an iPhone as my next mobile if I’m being honest.

I’m the kind of person who would be okay with whatever phone I had in my hand … so long as it can snap photos and I can type messages! ??

2. You can travel anywhere in the world for free. Where would you go?

If I were given the chance, it would have to the Holy Land of Makkah.

3. Name one song that would be perfect for a soundtrack about your life.

Whenever life kicks me hard … This song by Radiohead always cheers me up. It’s called “Fake Plastic Trees”. This is the song that I would sing. In fact, you can watch the video below to see my rendition of the song! ?

4. Recommend your favourite YouTuber.

Jay Shetty. He’s someone who always seems to have the right words to say. This is especially true whenever you feel like you’ve run out of options in your life.

5.What has been your most iconic moment of 2018?

It would have to be the moment I made my way up after hitting rock bottom. I am also most thankful for The Banana Story BN (@thebananastory.bn).

I have fallen countless times. Trust me! It ain’t easy, especially when there is no moral support. At the end of the day, focus on what helps you become a better person.

I look forward to meeting all of you at the 22nd Consumer Fair (@consumerfair.bn), which will run from January 23 to 27, at the International Convention Center in Berakas. Be sure to look out for Booth Y35 at the ICC!
