Part 1 Of #Neue9to5 Interview
#1. Please tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is John Felix Cubero, 39 years old, from the Philippines. I’ve been here in Excapade for 10 years. Currently, my position is a Branch Manager and at the same time, I’m the Head of Delivery Department.
#2. What was your first thoughts when Brunei reported its first COVID-19 case?
At first, honestly speaking, we (did) not have any idea. We (weren’t sure) know what (would) happen in the future. And we (were) clueless in all directions. (With the daily) updates from the news … we’re were worried and scared. So what we have done is … we just go with the flow.
#3. What’s something that you wish customers understood more about your job?
Well, we are trying to cope every customer request … every customer’s orders. But due to our limited resources – our riders … (In some instances) we are not able to deliver (some of our) customer’s orders on time. And also, bad weather (heavy rain) is also a hindrance to our (delivery) operations. So, I wish that people understand the same way around.
#4. What would you like to say to Excapade’s valued customers?
Our utmost ‘Thank You’ to all our supporters who continuously support us, especially during this (COVID-19) pandemic. Thank you for supporting us all the time and we (will) continue to look (into areas) for our own improvement (so that we can) serve you better.
#5. What do you love most about your job?
Honestly speaking, what I love most about my job is (when) customers recognise you and look for you. That’s it.
#6. Trying new things. Thoughts?
Well, I always (make it a point) to introduce Japanese food to our customers, especially the sashimi. I (would) encourage them to try new things, new food that they haven’t tried before.
#7. What’s the nicest thing a customer has said to you?
(This is going to sound) weird but … they (my customers) told me that they would (make their orders) at Excapade because of me!

#8. What do you love most about being in Brunei?
I love most … what I love most in Brunei … Brunei is a peaceful and safe country. There are very (few) calamities (unlike) other countries. And most especially, the people (in Brunei) are great!
#9. Why do you love working here?
Honestly speaking, I really love working at Excapade because I (am fortunate to have) found a good boss. I found a good management team. I feel like home and (have a strong sense of belonging as a) family.

#1. What would you like to say to Excapade’s customers?
To our beloved supporters who contiously support Excapade, thank you for your continous support, especially during this (COVID-19) pandemic / crisis. We thank you for supporting us all throughout.
#2. What’s your favourite thing to order from Excapade?
One dish … actually I have 3 favourite dishes. First is sashimi. Second, sashimi. Third, sashimi! Why? Because (Excapade’s) quality and freshness (of the sashimi) is always … best!

#3. What celebrity would you like to form a band with?
I like Adam Levine of Maroon 5. I would call my band as “John & Adam”.
#4. What annoys you the most?
What really annoys me is the redundancy of a simple instruction and yet not to be followed.
#5. What does happiness mean to you?
Happiness is self contentment. If you are content with one thing, happiness will follow.
